Alternatives to increase the red color of the peel in ‘Daiane’ and ‘Venice’ apples Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Fenili,Cristhian Leonardo; Petri,José Luiz; Steffens,Cristiano André; Martin,Mariuccia Schlichting de; Amarante,Cassandro Vidal Talamini do; Heinzen,Angélica Schmitz.
Abstract This study aimed evaluate the effect of biostimulants, foliar fertilizers and ethephon on the red color in the peel of ‘Daiane’ and ‘Venice’ apples. The experiments were conducted in Caçador/SC, during 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 seasons. In 2015/2016, the treatments were: Control; Biostimulant I; Foliar fertilizer I + Foliar fertilizer II; Biostimulant II and KCl. In 2016/2017, was included the Ethephon treatment. In 2016/2017, Biostimulant I, Foliar fertilizer I + Foliar fertilizer II and Biostimulant II increased the percentage of ‘Daiane’ and ‘Venice’ apples with greater red peel cover, without affecting the quality and maturity of the fruits. In both cultivars, ethephon was treatment that promoted a higher percentage of apples in the category...

Escurecimento da polpa em pera ‘Rocha’ influenciado pela composição mineral do fruto e condições de atmosfera controlada Bragantia
Martin,Mariuccia Schlichting De; Steffens,Cristiano André; Amarante,Cassandro Vidal Talamini do; Rodrigues,Marília Farias; Heinzen,Angélica Schmitz; Brackmann,Auri.

Ethanol vapor treatment of ‘Laetitia’ plums stored under modified atmosphere Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Nunes,Francielle Regina; Steffens,Cristiano André; Heinzen,Angélica Schmitz; Soethe,Cristina; Moreira,Marcelo Alves; Amarante,Cassandro Vidal Talamini do.
Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of ethanol vapor during storage in modified atmosphere on the ripening and maintenance of the postharvest quality of ‘Laetitia’ plums. The plums were obtained from an orchard in the municipality of Lages, SC. The experimental design adopted was completely randomized. The treatments evaluated were ethanol vapor doses (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 mL kg-1 of fruit). The fruits were stored at 0.5±0.2°C and 92±2% RH for 30 days. Upon their removal from storage followed by another three days in room conditions (20±5ºC and 63±2% RH), the fruits were evaluated in relation to their physical and chemical attributes, incidence and intensity of internal browning, quantification of ethanol, acetaldehyde and ethyl...

Postharvest quality of ‘Baigent’ apples as a function of single and multiple preharvest spray aminoetoxivinylglycine and ethephon applications Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Soethe,Cristina; Steffens,Cristiano André; Hawerroth,Fernando José; Amarante,Cassandro Vidal Talamini do; Heinzen,Angélica Schmitz; Stanger,Mayara Cristiana.
Abstract The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of single and multiple pre-harvest spray aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) applications with or without ethephon, in ‘Baigent’ apple trees cultivated under anti-hail screen and harvesting date on fruit quality after storage. The experiment was conducted in a commercial orchard in the municipality of Vacaria/RS, in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 harvests. Treatments consisted of: control (plants sprayed with water); AVG (125 mg L-1, 30 days before the predicted harvest date; BPHD); ethephon (120 mg L-1, seven BPHD); AVG (62.5 mg L-1 + 62.5 mg L-1, 30 and 20 BPHD); AVG (62.5 mg L-1 + 62.5 mg L-1, 30 and 20 BPHD) + ethephon (120 mg L-1, seven BPHD). Fruits of all treatments were harvested at commercial harvest...

Quality and functional properties of ‘Tupy’ blackberry stored in modified atmosphere conditions Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Soethe,Cristina; Steffens,Cristiano André; Martin,Mariuccia Schlichting de; Amarante,Cassandro Vidal Talamini do; Heinzen,Angélica Schmitz; Kretzschmar,Aike Anneliese.
Abstract The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of storage temperature, in passive modified atmosphere (MA) and atmospheric composition in active MA on quality maintenance, total phenolic compounds (TPC) and total antioxidant activity (TAA; DPPH and ABTS methods) of ‘Tupy’ blackberry. Two experiments were carried out. In experiment 1, the fruit were stored for eight days at 0, 5 and 10 °C in passive MA. In experiment 2, the initial atmospheres of 21.0 kPa O2 + 0.04 kPa CO2 (passive MA); 9.2 kPa O2 + 9.2 kPa CO2 (active MA with high CO2); 1.4 kPa O2 + 0.04 kPa CO2 (active MA with low O2); and 1.4 kPa O2 + 9.6 kPa CO2 (active MA with low O2 + high CO2) were evaluated for eight days at 0 °C. In both experiments, the fruit were packed in Xtend®...
